Enhance Your Lamp Shade!
After creating a custom shower curtain last week, I took stock of the other items in my bathroom and decided to update the colors on my lamp shade to match my new shower curtain. In this blog, I will explain step by step the method I followed.
Supplies
For the lamp shade trim I used beaded trim item Z4-B and Gimp 8 color 7511 from http://warehousefabricsinc.com
A glue gun and glue sticks.
The Process
First step in creating your lamp shade is to remove the old gimp. As seen in the next photo my lamp shade had a green gimp on it and did not match the look I was going for.
After you have removed all gimp thoroughly dust and remove all particles.
Next, start with the top area of your lamp shade, put a good amount of hot glue around the top and apply your gimp you have chosen.
When you have completed the top, make sure you fold under the raw edge of your gimp and add more hot glue to hold it securely in place.
Next, I placed my lamp shade back on the lamp stand so I would be able to move the shade around so the beads could be added around the bottom.
Last step in creating your lamp shade would be to add the gimp on top of the ribbon edge of the beaded trim.
Now my lamp matches the bathroom beautifully.
