During this blog, I will demonstrate how to make this simple but lovely addition to any bedroom decor a bed scarf!
For this blog I used 2 yards of a Natural Sheeting plus I used 3 yards of a trim that is not on line but can be ordered by calling Best Fabric Store at 205-487-8040 and asking for Lisbon Bullion #686. I also used a 2 yard piece of decorative fabric.
First step in creating this beautiful bed scarf was to measure my bed across the foot and I decided a seventy-two inch length would be plenty to create this look.
I chose a decorative fabric for the top of my scarf to match the rest of my bedding. Sorry but I got the last piece of this fabric!
I cut this piece of fabric seventy-two inches long with the width of fifty-four inches wide.
Next with the face fabric up I added the Natural Sheeting cut at seventy-two inches by fifty-four inches also. I pinned these two fabrics together and took to the sewing machine.
I sewed down the length of the scarf on both of the long sides plus one of the short sides. On the last short side leave about a twelve inch opening to be able to turn the scarf inside out.
Now turn the scarf inside out through the opening.
Then turn your raw edges inside the gap and pin it in place. Next take it back to the sewing machine and close the gap.
Now it is time to add this beautiful trim. First I tried to sew this in place using a smaller needle I believe it was a 70/10 size needle. That was a mistake because my machine kept stalling and breaking needles (dah) so I changed to a denim needle and had no problem at all!
Once you have the trim sewn to both of the shorter sides you are finished!!
I could not be happier than with the results of my finished bed.
Now you know how to create this simple but beautiful bed scarf!
Happy sewing until next time!!
