Let’s make a cushion for an antique camel footstool!
During this blog, I will demonstrate how to make a cushion to replace this old cushion for an antique camel footstool!
SUPPLIES NEEDED:
For this cushion I used approximately one yard of fabric and two and a half yards of cord.
PROCEDURE:
When a customer came in with this awesome footstool and wanted a new cushion made, I jumped at the chance because I wanted to see it with a faux leather cushion.
The first step in creating this cushion was to get a pattern drawn of the footstool.
I took some econo lining and placed it on the stool and traced the outline with a piece of chalk. Then I cut out the pattern.
Next I took that pattern and traced it onto a three inch thick piece of foam.
Then I took the pattern piece and added one and a half inches around the perimeter of the pattern onto the faux leather as shown in the photo. Now cut out one piece.
Next take the piece you just cut and place it face up on the faux leather fabric and cut out the bottom piece of the cushion.
I then cut out strips for the piping cover.
Take the cord and cover using a zipper foot.
Now take the covered cord and add it to the face side of one of the cushion pieces.
Then take the bottom cushion piece and with face sides together sew around the perimeter of the cushion leaving a gap to insert the foam.
Last step is to take the gap and using a needle and thread sew closed.
WOW!! Does this not look soooooo much better?
Now you know how to make that wonderful camel foot stool look great!
Happy sewing until next time!
