Let’s make a decorative bookend!
This time of year we all think about resolutions:) I would like to lose some weight so I thought I better get all my cookbooks at hand that are for dieting! LOL. During this blog, I will demonstrate how to make these decorative sandbag bookends using fabric!
SUPPLIES:
I used 1/4 yard of fabric, plus a storage bag full of sand, and a sewing machine.
PROCEDURE:
The first step in creating this fun decorative bookend was to get two quart size storage bags and fill with sand. Next cut out your fabric.
Since I made two bookends I cut four pieces of fabric 8″ x 10″.
Now take two pieces with face sides together and stitch around three sides leaving the bottom side not sewn.
Take your sewn fabric and turn it right side out.
When I made my first bookend I went ahead and put the sandbag in at this time. Experience always helps so when I made my second one I decided to top stitch around the three sides that are sewn together then place my sand bag inside and finish the top stitching. This photo shows the bottom pinned together and the sides top stitched.
The last step is to insert the sand bag and top stitch the bottom edge.
This was a fast and easy way to help display books easily. Just think how cute this would be used in a child’s playroom or bedroom using some of the fun prints from warehousefabricsinc.com or soon to be BestFabricStore.com
Now you know how to make a decorative bookend out of fabric! Happy Sewing!
