During this blog, I will demonstrate how to make a drapery panel and get it ready for the addition of Goblet pleating tape.

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

I used approximately 2.75 yards each of Cabana Village Blue and Lining. I also used one and a half yards of Goblet Pleating tape.

PROCEDURE:

The first step in creating this drape was to measure the length of fabric that is needed to make the drape. I measured from the rod ring to the floor. The measurement was 90 inches but I needed to add enough fabric for the hem and seam allowance for the top of the drape.

I cut 96.5 inches of the Cabana Village Blue Natural. This allows six inches to be used for the hem and one half inch seam allowance for the top.

Next I cut the lining at the measurement of 95.5 inches which will allow for a six inch hem and a half inch seam allowance at top.

I then took the two pieces and serge the raw edges. Top and bottom.

The next step was to take the lining and make a hem. First I measured six inches as shown in the photo, pinned then pressed into place.

I then took the six inches and folded under to make a three inch hem.

I then sewed a straight stitch to create the hem.

Do the same procedure for the decorative fabric.

The only difference will be using the blind stitch hemmer for the sewing of the hem.

This photo is showing the hemming using the blind stitch attachment.

At this point I attached the decorative fabric and the lining together. Place the decorative fabric face up then add  the lining face down on top of the decorative fabric. I sewed the top of the drape together using a half inch seam allowance.

Once the seam is complete turn the fabrics with the fabric backs together  and press down the seam.

It is time to hem the sides of the drapery panel. First measure three inches, pin then press.

Now turn the side hem under to measure one and a half inches, pin and sew using the blind stitch hem attachment.

At this point the drape is ready for the Goblet pleating tape!

Next week I will continue with the drape and embellish it with the Goblet pleating tape and more decorative additions.

Happy sewing until next time!
