During this blog, I will demonstrate how to take this torn leather bar stool and make it new again!

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

I used approximately one yard of this great Marine Spa Expanded Vinyl.

PROCEDURE:

The first step in re-doing this bar stool was to remove all the existing leather.

After all the staples have been removed, take the fabric and draw a pattern onto the back side of the vinyl, as shown in the photo.

Since I am re-doing two of these bar stools I cut out two circles of the Marine Spa Expanded Black Vinyl.

The best way I have found to work around a circle is to add three staples at an angle that can be easily removed.

Hopefully you can see by this photo what I mean about adding the staples where they can be easily removed.

Now starting at the fourth side of the circle start pulling tight while smoothing the vinyl with your hand and add staples.

Continue around the perimeter of the stool. Take out the staples that have been placed earlier for easy removal as you reach them. This ensures that your material is added evenly around the stool.

Now cut a strip of vinyl to recover the piping that was around the existing stool.

Using your zipper attachment cover the cord with the vinyl strip.

Next add the piping around the bar stool as shown in the photo.

I finished by re-using the bottom dust cover on the stool bottom. Remember to line up the cover with the screw holes.

Last step is to attach the bar stool seat onto the stool.

Now you know how to re-do those torn, worn out bar stools in your kitchen!

Happy sewing until next time!
