Paint transfer pillow
Happy weekend! Now that Valentine’s day is only two weeks away, I thought I’d share a few love-y projects with you. I’m sharing yet another pillow with you. I’m happy with the way it turned out, and the technique can be transferred to any item that you choose.
Here’s what you’ll need:
1/2 yard 7 oz. Cotton Duck Natural, paints & paint brushes, parchment paper & plastic to line your work space, a rolling pin.
First, line your space with plastic of some sort. I used trash bags, which made it very easy to dispose of the mess, but a drop cloth would work well, too!
Next, cut a piece of parchment paper around the same size as the item you’re transferring paint to. For this project, all I needed was a 16″ x 16″ sheet, as the front of my pillow cover is 16″.
The next step is to paint the image/design that you’d like to transfer onto the parchment paper. I like the idea of a few chevron stripes, not at all perfect.
After I painted my stripes, I laid the fabric face down on the parchment paper, then rolled my rolling pin over it a few times to ensure that the image was transferred.
As you can see, it’s not a crisp & perfect transfer, but rather a bit imperfect. I like the rough and incomplete look, though. It’s certainly one of a kind!
I finished the pillow cover using the same steps as the pom pom fringe pillow. The pieces for the back of the pillow cover were 15″ x 16″ & 10″ x 16″.
