Amy Butler CD holder

This project is found in Amy Butler’s “In Stitches” book. I’ve had this book for a while and decided it was time to try out a pattern. A CD holder appealed to me because I have a couple of shelves in my desk area that seem to be a perpetual mess. I did like the end result, with a tidier area, but I can’t say I loved the project completely.

Chantilly French Blue / Kelso

Giraffe Kelso / French Blue

Peltex
I had 1/2 yard (with leftovers) of each fabric and 3/4 yard single-side fusible Peltex heavy stabilizer.

The pattern

This pattern can be found in the book “In Stitches” by Amy Butler.
I mentioned above that I didn’t fully love this project. It started off OK. I like how accurately you measure all of the corners. Each individual part came together fine, but then somehow the lining was far too big. I didn’t quite understand how since I used my outer piece to cut my lining piece. I had to do some alterations to make it work. I also thought it might be easier to attach the handles before the whole thing was sewn up, but I do suppose that they are sturdier if attached through all three layers.
Despite those things, in the end, I like the finished product and it’s certainly useful.
