Enhance Your Lamp Shade!

After creating a custom shower curtain last week, I took stock of the other items in my bathroom and decided to update the colors on my lamp shade to match my new shower curtain. In this blog, I will explain step by step the method I followed.

No-sew knee patches

When I saw the Ultra Fur Chocolate, I just knew I’d need to make some knew patches for my little one! She turned one last month, and now she walks just about everywhere, but for several months, she was crawling and wearing out all of her leggings!! They looked dingy, so I thought knee patches would be a cheap fix- and it was! This project is not only simple, but quick! If you have all of the materials on hand, it shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes.

No-sew Wall Art

Happy weekend! The project I’m sharing with you today is a fun one. It doesn’t even involve your sewing machine! I’m going to share the simple steps to covering a wrapped canvas with fabric to make a unique piece of wall art. It’s quick and simple- once all your supplies are gathered, it could be hanging on your wall in 30 minutes!

Recover a letter with fabric, and a goodbye

Ever wanted to redecorate a big letter for a child’s room? I found one at Cost Plus that was half off and decided to give it a try with fabric, ribbon and good ol’ Mod Podge. Incidentally, this is my last post for this blog. I’ve had a wonderful five years with Warehouse Fabrics Inc. doing this blog and communicating with you all through social media, newsletters and comments here. I’m sad to go, but after many years as a journalist and several years as a blogger, I’m taking a different road — to teaching. It’s back to school for…

Covered cork trivets – functional wall decor

What’s a cheap, easy way to add a little “something” to your walls? Recover cork trivets with fabric. They’ll look pretty and double as cork boards. You can get them in various sizes (mine are all one size and I got them at Target in the kitchen section). Just grab a hot glue gun and you’ll be done in no time. This post is one of several in my attempt to revamp my sewing space. See these posts, as well: Pinch Pleat Curtains Easy Curtain Tie-Backs Sewing Machine Cover

Little jar pincushion (with sewing kit)

I’ve been on a bit of a pincushion kick, and I’m not close to being done with it. This one tops a mason jar, so it doubles as storage. You can use them as gift — consider a mini sewing kit. Just put some supplies inside the jar. You can use any size of jar that you please. I also classified this under “no-sew” projects because you don’t technically have to use gathering stitches — you could just use a glue gun and fold the fabric over — but I find it gives a better result to use gathering stitches.

Easy, inexpensive coasters

These coasters are cute and make an easy, quick and cheap gift. All you need are some small tiles (these 4″x4″ tiles were 37 cents each at Lowe’s), some scraps of fabric, small pieces of felt and some Mod Podge. I had matte Mod Podge on hand, but glossy would look really nice. Let’s get our 1970s on and decoupage! I demonstrated a few different fabrics, but obviously you could make a lovely set with coordinating or similar fabrics.
