For this throw pillow I used approximately one yard of fabric, two-thirds of a yard of zipper, one zipper slide and approximately three yards of cotton piping.

PROCEDURE:

I decided to make a twenty-two inch square pillow to add a pop of blue to my bedding.

I started by cutting two squares of fabric that measure twenty-three inches.

Next I traced off the piping cover on the backside of the fabric on the bias.

After the bias strips have been cut out then sew the ends together to create one continuous strip of piping cover.

Time to cover the cotton piping with the strip of bias cover as shown in the photo.

Then add the piping to the front side of one of the twenty-three inch squares.

Next, it is time to add the zipper. Start by sewing close to the zipper teeth without harming the teeth.

This photo shows the position that the zipper needs to be.

Now the zipper needs to be added to the back section of the pillow.

Start sewing the pillow around the perimeter starting at one corner of the zipper to the other corner of the zipper.

This photo shows the sewing finishing at the opposite corner of the zipper.

I put a 24″ pillow form inside the finished pillow.
