I used approximately six yards of decorative fabric and lining plus approximately one and a half yards of pleater tape per drapery width.

PROCEDURE:

During the last blog, I demonstrated how to make the drapery panels now I will demonstrate how to add the goblet pleat tape.

When making any type of pleated drapery you will need to measure your window and do that measurement by at least  2.5 times. I did not use this calculation because all I wanted was to add a splash of color, not the ability to close the drapery.

I bought the goblet pleater tape from our retail store. First step is to cut the tape to fit the back of your drape with enough added to turn under one and one-eight inch on each end.

When you look at the tape you will notice one edge will have a yellow and green line side by side, this will be the bottom while the single green line will be the top of the tape.

Make sure to tie knots in one end of the tape while leaving a string on the opposite end to be able to pull the goblets into place.

Lay the tape with the string side up and pin into place.

Take it to the sewing machine and begin stitching the tape down to the curtain back making sure to not sew into any of the strings that you will need to pull. Sew along the green lines only.

Start pulling the cords moving the gathers across the back while forming the goblet pleats. This took me a little while to work the cords across the back but eventually it looked great!

Once you have the goblets formed add some stuffing or quilt batt into the goblet. This helps to maintain a neat goblet pleat.

Next I cut round disc for covering buttons to add to the goblet pleats.

Work the fabric into the teeth to cover the button.

Now snap the back of the button in place.

Last step is to sew the button in place!
