OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  Do you have a headboard that needs recovering? During this blog, I will demonstrate how to add a new fabric covering for a headboard.

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

For this project I used 2 and 1/2 yards of Metro Linen Turquoise fabric, staple gun and staples.

PROCEDURE:

First measure your existing headboard to determine how much fabric is needed. My headboard measured 65″ wide by 43″ tall.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  Since the fabric I chose has a width of 54″ and it can be railroaded the width was perfect for the height of my headboard. I cut the fabric at 2 yards for the width, this allows 2 and 1/2 ” on each side to be able to turn under and staple.

I started by folding under the edge of the fabric to make sure no raw edges were visible and stapled down beginning in the center of the top of the headboard.

Continue across the top edge of the headboard until you get to the ends.

At the corners, tuck and staple pulling tight for a snug fit.

Continue down the sides just like you did for the top edge. Once you get to the bottom corners repeat by tucking and stapling.

I did not take a photo of the legs but all you have to do is cut a separate piece of fabric for each leg and fold and staple hiding all the staple work on the leg backs.

Wow! Doesn’t that look great!!!

Now you know how to recreate that headboard with a brand new look.
