Photo frame ornament
Hi there! This week I’m going to share a project with a few different purposes, all of which are pretty handy around this time of year. It’s main purpose is a fun little ornament that doubles as a frame, but you could use it as a reusable gift tag, or even a luggage tag, too!
Here’s what you’ll need:
(there’s batting in this photo, but the project worked much better without, so it’s not included in the instructions, FYI)
1/4 yard of O’Connell Ebony, about 12 inches of ribbon/cord, and a 3.5″ square of clear vinyl.
First, cut two 6″ squares.
Then place them right sides together & pin the corners together. I also pinned as a reminder to leave an opening on one side.
After sewing the pieces together (except for the opening, of course!), clip your corners and turn right-side out.
Pin the ends of the ribbon in the opening of the square, then sew the opening closed.
Next, take your 3.5″ piece of vinyl, and lay it in the middle of your ornament. Sew down both sides and the bottom, leaving the top open. Now, some prefer to use tissue paper over their vinyl while sewing, as your presser foot might stick a bit to the vinyl. I didn’t have much trouble with it, but by all means, if you’re having a hard time, place a bit of tissue paper over the vinyl and then gently tear it away after the vinyl is attached.
Insert your photo/gift tag/contact info, and you now have a cute frame ornament/gift tag/luggage tag!
