Puzzle blocks

These puzzle blocks are a fun no-sew project that utilizes several adorable fabrics. We offer a variety of cute prints, many of which can be found among our Novelty Designer Fabrics. I found this project at Craftiness Is Not Optional.

You’ll fussy cut a picture out of each fabric and apply to one side of the blocks. Then you’ll repeat five times. So this is not only a set of blocks, but six different puzzles.

Of course, I got stuck trying to put together the bear puzzle. My husband said, “So these are for kids, but you can’t do it?” In my defense, I just didn’t expect a bunny to be floating up near the top of a tree. These puzzles can be simple or challenging depending on the print you choose.

Staffordshire Lemon

Fun on the Beach

Bear Necessities - Gumdrop

Cowboy Stucco Natural

Sports Pro Indigo

Coral Reef Cocoa

2x2 Wooden blocks (16)

Mod Podge

Foam brush
You’ll fussy cut an 8″x8″ piece from each fabric and then cut that into the squares. You’ll need 16 blocks, 2″x2″ each. Of course, you can use any size blocks you’d like and just adjust your fabric squares accordingly. You’ll also need some Mod Podge and a foam brush to apply it with.
I found my blocks at Michael’s for 99 cents each. After shopping around online, it seemed to be the cheapest option when you take into account shipping charges.

The project

I found this project at Craftiness Is Not Optional. Please jump on over to her blog for instructions and take a look around while you’re there.

I used six different fabrics. As I pasted each one using the Mod Podge, I kept them in order. Then, when it dried and was time to do the next fabric, I flipped them all the same direction. That kept all the fabrics similarly aligned.

At the end, coat the whole thing with Mod Podge to seal it. As advised in the original tutorial, make sure all strings are removed at this time, because once that Mod Podge dries, you’re not getting them off!
