About Our Chenille Fabric

Chenille fabric is a cozy, plush fabric that is soft to the touch. The chenille yarn is manufactured by placing short lengths of yarn, called the "pile," between two "core yarns" and then twisting the yarn together. Chenille fabric will look different in one direction compared to another, as the fibers catch the light differently. We have a wide variety of chenille fabric patterns available, so you can easily find one that fits your personal tastes. From darker florals to stripes and even geometric prints, there is something for everyone. Not only will the chenille material feel great, but it looks great too!

Our chenille fabric is primarily made for upholstery, so for that style of fabric we do have a 2-yard minimum order requirement. Chenille Fabric FAQs

A: It depends on your project! If softness is a necessity—like for making burp cloths, robes, bathroom towels, and the like—then chenille is perfect. You’ll need a heavy weight chenille for creating slipcovers and drapes. In situations like outdoor projects, chenille is not the fabric for you.

Chenille is manufactured by placing short lengths of yarn – the pile– between two ""core yarns."" Then, the yarn is woven together. Similarly, velvet is woven tufted fabric in which the cut threads are evenly distributed with a short dense pile, giving it it’s iconic softness.
