Body pillow cover
When I was pregnant with my little one, I eventually got to the point that I needed not one, but two body pillows in order to get any sleep at all. I am no longer pregnant, but I still really like to sleep with a body pillow. Anyway, the cover on my pillow was never pretty to begin with, but after a year & a half of use, it’s really unsightly, so I decided to make my own!
I really like Helen Summerland / Natural and thought it’d be lovely as a cover for the pillow. Let me tell you- it is!
Here’s what you’ll need to make your own:
1.25 yds of Helen Summerland / Natural and a coordinating 20″ zipper.
Start by cutting out two pieces of fabric- 19″ x 49″
Pin one side of your zipper to a short end on one of the pieces of fabric, right sides together, then sew together. Repeat with the piece of fabric leftover.
Once the zipper has been installed, line up the fabric pieces right sides together, and pin every 5-6 inches. Open the zipper about halfway, then sew around the three sides.
If you have a serger, it would be great to serge the edges. I do not own a serger, so I used a stitch on my machine that is a combination of straight stitch and zig zag, to finish the edges.
If your zipper is too long for your pillow cover, it’s ok to trim the excess. Just be sure that there’s a stitch over the end before clipping it.
